Difunctional Zn-based metal–organic frameworks: chemical conversion of CO2 and luminescence recognition for secnidazole?

Abstract
A water-stable anion Zn-based MOF {[H2N(CH3)2]3[Zn3(BTB)2(5-atz)3]·3EtOH·3H2O·3DMF}n (1) (H3BTB = 1,3,5-tris(4-carboxyphenyl)benzene, 5-atz = 5-amino-1H-tetrazole) has been synthesized and structurally characterized, presenting a robust two-fold interpenetrated framework with high thermal stability and excellent solvent stability. Importantly, compound 1 as a difunctional Zn-Based MOF not only can sensitively and selectively detect secnidazole (SNZ) in aqueous solutions with a low detection limit of 0.75 ppm but also can catalyze the chemical conversion of CO2 with aziridines into high-valued chemicals, displaying excellent regenerability. This work opens up a new avenue for the preparation of difunctional MOF-based luminescent sensors and heterogeneous catalysts.
