Full spectrum light-emitting diodes based on a new efficient zirconium silicate green phosphor for healthy lighting?

Abstract
Full spectrum LEDs have been a research focus in the field of LED technology in recent years. In this study, a novel rubidium-containing zirconium silicate green phosphor, Rb2ZrSi2O7:Eu2+, with excellent thermal stability and high quantum efficiency was successfully synthesized via a high temperature solid phase method. The Rb2ZrSi2O7:Eu2+ phosphor can be effectively excited by near ultraviolet light, emitting intense green light peaking at 522 nm. The broadband green light emission with a FWHM of 91 nm was confirmed to originate from luminescent centers formed by Eu2+ occupying two different Rb+ sites. The color rendering properties of LED beads encapsulated by Rb2ZrSi2O7:Eu2+ are better than those of LED beads encapsulated by β-sialon:Eu2+, and these LEDs can basically meet the requirements for full-spectrum LEDs. The results indicate that Rb2ZrSi2O7:Eu2+ is a potential green phosphor for full spectrum LEDs.
