A water-soluble iridium(iii) porphyrin?

Chemical Communications Pub Date: 2010-03-30 DOI: 10.1039/C000263A

Abstract

This work reports the synthesis and characterization of the first water-soluble iridium porphyrin, iridium(III) diaqua porphyrin [IrIII(TSPP)(OH2)2]3? (1, TSPP = tetra-p-sulfonatophenyl porphyrin). The structure of 1 was unequivocally determined by single crystal X-ray analysis. Benzo-18-crown-6-ether is essential for producing single crystals suitable for X-ray analysis.
