SO2F2 mediated dehydrative cross-coupling of alcohols with electron-deficient olefins in DMSO using a Pd-catalyst: one-pot transformation of alcohols into 1,3-dienes?

Abstract

A Pd-catalyzed, SO2F2 mediated dehydrative cross-coupling reaction of alcohols with acrylates for the construction of 1,3-dienes was developed. The reaction proceeded efficiently under mild conditions and tolerated a wide range of functional groups. This new reaction provided a strategically distinct approach to highly valuable 1,3-diene derivatives from readily available and abundant alcohols.
