Abstract

A facile catalyst-free tandem sp3 C–H functionalization/decarboxylation of 4-oxo-4H-chromene-3-carboxylic acid with 2-alkylazaarenes was developed, which can efficiently construct azaarene 2-substituted chromanones in moderate to good yields. This method proves to be efficient and innovative and the biologically significant azaarene 2-substituted chromanones can be accessed in a single step through this methodology.
